Please do not ask the receptionist for information about members of your family over the age of 16 years. This includes whether they have an appointment, the result of tests taken or whether they are on the premises. The receptionists are not allowed to tell you.

We ask for information about you so that you can receive the best possible care and treatment. We keep this information, together with details of your care, to ensure that your doctor or nurse has accurate and up-to-date information. Your personal health information will be held in confidence.

There are times when we have to pass on information about you to other people such as hospitals, Social Services or the Health Authority. This is always done confidentially, or by removing your identifying details when they are not essential.

Your details will not be disclosed to a third party without your prior consent, unless in exceptional circumstances required by law in the public interest. Your medical history will be recorded on our practice computer system, which may only be accessed by authorised members of our team. Everyone working for the NHS has a legal duty to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Electronic data kept on computer by the practice complies with the Data Protection Act 2018.
